Hi everyone! I'm Lylaah, your JCR President. I'm a second year Classicist and away from work I'm an avid Spurs fan, I love to dance and there is no TV show I love more than The West Wing! As President, my role is to oversee and coordinate the activity of the whole committee and to help the other officers to achieve what they want to get done! I'm a trustee of the College and represent the undergraduate body at College Council. Therefore, I'm the link between staff and students, and your first port of call if you need something or would like to get involved in any way! I also see my role as that of a facilitator for both the committee and you the students, so please do not hesitate to get in touch if there's something you'd like to do or if you have a suggestion. I love chatting and want to listen to what you have to say, so if you see me around College please stop and say hi or talk if you'd like, I'll have an 'always open' policy!
Hey I’m Maansi, your JCR Vice-President. I’m a third-year History student. My main focus is Freshers’ week and making all the freshers feel settled in once they arrive at Medwards, as well as helping the JCR Vice-Pres coordinate the rest of the committee. Feel free to come and talk to me, or send me a message if you have any problems or questions – or even just to talk!
Hi I'm Zoë, I'm the junior treasurer. I manage the JCR funds, keeping track of all income and expenditure. I also allocate the budgets of each JCR role and give money to societies run by students at Murray Edwards
Hi, I'm Anna, a mathematics student and the communications officer and secretary for the JCR. When I'm not working, I love playing the flute in the university concert band and playing netball in college. Part of my role is to distribute the all important dome menus and to make the weekly bulletin, so if you have anything to advertise around college then please let me know!
Hello, I’m Tilly, a bio natsci and your Environmental and Ethical Affairs Officer! I’m responsible for moving college towards becoming a more environmentally responsible and ethically-minded community, which could mean anything from recycling to engaging with local charities. Don’t hesitate to approach me with any ideas you might have!
Hi, I'm Charlie a second year natsci, and I’m your disabilities officer this year! My role is to be there to support anyone with any sort of mental or physical disability, and to do my best to ensure that everyone has access to the services they need to thrive at Medwards. If you fancy a chat or have any ideas, I’d love to hear from you!
Hey, I'm Amy, your Logistics Officer! I'm in charge of JCR spaces, and also liaise with college about accommodation, catering, and events. If you've got any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
Hi! I’m Cecilia, a linguistics student and one of your ents officers. We’re here to bring you all kinds of fun around college! You can’t spend all day working so keep a look out for events throughout term. We have a lot in store but feel free to make any suggestions
Hi, I’m Fola, I’m a second year English student and one half of your JCR Ents Officers. We’re responsible for coordinating your Freshers’ week and other college-wide events for everyone throughout the year. Our main aim is to be inclusive and put on events you guys want and ask for; if you have any ideas/requests don’t hesitate to find me in college/ or email!
Hi everyone! My name is Munira, and I'm your BME officer (BAME after open meeting) for the year. I'm a first year HSPS student from Dubai and India. If you have any concerns, suggestions or thoughts about your experience as a BME student in Medwards or Cambridge, feel free to email me.
Hey, I'm Carlotta! I'm a History student and one of your two Welfare & Academic Affairs Officers, alongside Helen. I'm always available in college if you need someone to talk to about an issue, or even just for a chat! I can send you resources, help you access any help you might need and liaise on your behalf with the College for any academic issues that might arise. I'm also able to provide you with sexual health supplies, and lots of cups of tea. Please send in your suggestions for any welfare events you'd like to see Helen and I put on throughout the year. I love living in Medwards, and I want to make it the best possible place for everyone.
Hello! I’m Helen, a History and Modern Languages student and one of your two Welfare & Academic Affairs Officers, along with Carlotta. I’m always around in college if you ever need someone to talk to, and I can point you in the direction of any help you might need. I can also provide you with sexual health supplies. Carlotta and I will be putting on various welfare events over the course of the year, so please let us know if you have any suggestions! I love Medwards and want to make your time here as happy and healthy as possible, whoever you are and whatever you’re going through.
I’m Ella, a second year English student and your JCR bar officer. I’m responsible for making sure the bar is staffed and stocked, and running the occasional event at the bar. I’m hoping to make some changes to the bar this year and introduce more regular events
Hi, I am Julia, your international officer this year and I aim to make all the internationals feel at home in Medwards! My role entails organizing international’s freshers week and subsequent socializing events in collaboration with other hill colleges throughout the year, being the point of contact for international students in college and keeping you informed about events ran by international societies across the uni. I am always here to listen to any of your concern or suggestion!
Hey, I'm Faith, an English student and the JCR Arts Officer. This year I really want to focus on increasing student engagement with our incredible art collection, and making the art here as accessible as possible. I hope to start a blog which will encourage any student to respond to their favourite piece within college - particularly if it's hidden away down a random corridor! I will also be helping to put on art sessions throughout term as part of student welfare, as well as publicising events and exhibitions at the various venues throughout Cambridge. Please contact me if you have any ideas, or if you'd like to get involved in any way at all with art at Medwards!
Hello, I’m Rebecca and I’m a second year reading law. At university, and indeed in all aspects of life, feeling supported, safe and comfortable in our identities is crucial. The wellbeing and visibility of LGBT+ students at Medwards is of great importance to me; I am your point of contact if you have any problems, questions, or just want to chat. If you have any comments, issues or questions that you would like brought up at the weekly MECSU meetings, please let me know!
Hi, I am Rachel, a first year HSPS student and I am your access officer. Education is a vital right everyone should have, no matter their background or experiences. This is why Medwards access initiatives aim to increase aspirations and applications to Cambridge and our college, as well as supporting students before and during the process of applying. This is done through outreach projects, shadowing schemes, college visits and more. However, access does not end with entrance and my role is to support students during their Cambridge experience, be it in a financial or welfare capacity. I am always here to help you access resources and services or available for a chat about you are doing. Please feedback to me in any capacity about your ideas about improving access, be it through a chat, access forums or taking part in access committees. Feel free to speak to me if you see me around college or email me! Looking forward to taking part in loads of access events with you guys this year, please take part in as many as you can! It is such important work!
Hi I'm Kathryn, I study HSPS and I am your Sports Officer. I am in charge of overseeing all the sports at Medwards, including liaising with the team captains. I also maintain the upkeep of the gym. If you have any enquiries or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me!
